Dutch Consumer Mood Least Negative in a Year

Consumer confidence in the Netherlands improved to -21 in November 2025 from -27 in October, marking the least pessimistic reading since September 2024. It was also the most significant monthly improvement in more than four years. Assessments of the economic climate were less negative, rising to -34 in November from -46 in October, supported by better views of both the past and future economy. Opinions on the economic situation over the past twelve months improved to -47, compared with -55 previously, while expectations for the next twelve months strengthened sharply to -21, up from -36. Households’ views on their financial situation over the past year edged up to -14 from -16, while expectations for the next twelve months rose to 5 from 2. The willingness to buy increased slightly to -12 from -14, and perceptions of a favorable time for major purchases improved modestly to -27 from -30.
