US 10-Year Yield Holds Near 6-Month Low

The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note held around 3.96% on Wednesday, hovering near six-month lows as investors assessed the economic outlook amid ongoing trade uncertainty and the prolonged government shutdown. On the trade front, President Donald Trump said he remains optimistic about securing a favorable deal with China but cautioned that his anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping may not occur as planned. Meanwhile, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett indicated suggested the shutdown could end this week, offering some relief to markets. He added that the Trump administration is prepared to take stronger measures to end the stoppage if no deal is reached. Investors now await Friday’s CPI report ahead of a widely expected Federal Reserve rate cut next week.
