Brazil Unemployment Rate Falls to 6.2%
The unemployment rate in Brazil fell to 6.2% in the three months ending May 2025, down from 6.8% in the quarter ending February, the lowest level in a year, and below market expectations of 6.4%. The number of people in employment rose by 1.2% to 103.9 million, as did the record growth in the number of people employed in the private sector with a formal contract, to 39.8 million. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people fell by 8.6% compared to February, to 6.8 million. The number of people out of the labor force did not change significantly, standing at 66.7 million. Lastly, real income remained stable in the quarter, at R$3,457.
