Retail sales in the Netherlands increased by 2.9% year-on-year in June 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 3.4% in the previous month, marking the weakest growth in four months. Sales growth in the non-food sector moderated to 3.1% from 4.0% in May, as smaller gains in drugstores (4.5% vs. 7.2%), clothing (1.4% vs. 3.6%), DIY, kitchen, and flooring stores (2.2% vs. 3.2%), and recreational items (1.2% vs. 3.7%) outweighed a sharp increase in consumer electronics and white goods (6.3% vs. 1.0%). Additionally, sales declined in furniture and home furnishing stores (-0.5% vs. 1.5%) and shoe and leather goods stores (-4.6% vs. 2.7%). In contrast, turnover for food products grew by 2.5% from 2.1%, lifted by stronger supermarket sales (2.7% vs. 2.1%), while growth in specialty stores eased to 0.9% from 1.9%.
