Mexico Consumer Confidence Hits One-Year High

Mexico’s consumer confidence rose 1.0 point to 46.1 in August 2026 from July, reaching its highest level in a year, although sentiment remained negative. All five components improved month-on-month. The strongest increase was in households’ assessment of their current economic situation, which rose 1.9 points to 53.9. Expectations for households’ economic situation over the next 12 months increased 1.6 points to 58.9, while the assessment of the country’s current economic situation rose 0.7 point to 40.1. Expectations for the country’s economic situation posted a marginal 0.1-point increase to 45.8. Meanwhile, households’ willingness to purchase durable goods, such as furniture and appliances, improved 1.1 points to 32.5. Year-on-year, consumer confidence was virtually unchanged.
