Swiss Non-Farm Payrolls Rise 2% in Q2

Switzerland’s non-farm payrolls increased 2.0% year-on-year to 5.698 million in the second quarter of 2026, accelerating from a 0.5% rise in the previous quarter. This represented an increase of 111.8 thousand jobs, driven mainly by the services sector, where employment rose 2.2% to 4.550 million. Within this sector, employment was highest in health and social work (2.2% to 895.2 thousand), followed by professional, scientific and technical services (1.6% to 525.1 thousand), education (1.7% to 433.9 thousand), and administrative and support services (10.5% to 433.1 thousand). Employment in the industry and construction sector also increased 1.2% to 1.148 million, led by manufacturing (0.7% to 695.4 thousand) and construction (1.9% to 386.9 thousand). Employment increased in most major regions, with the highest levels recorded in Zurich (2.2% to 1.168 million), Lake Geneva (2.2% to 1.117 million), and Espace Mittelland (1.9% to 1.137 million).
