DAX Rises to New Peak

The DAX 40 finished about 0.8% higher at 26,223 on Tuesday, a fresh record high, extending gains for a fourth consecutive session, mainly buoyed by tech and AI-related stocks. Market sentiment remained underpinned by an upbeat earnings season, while optimism resurfaced over a potential agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East. Oil prices reversed their early advance and fell after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached as early as Tuesday or Wednesday. Among key movers, Infineon Technologies outperformed, rising more than 4%. Merck rose 2.7% after reporting second-quarter 2026 revenue and profit above market expectations and raising its full-year outlook. Bayer added 2.4% after reporting stronger-than-expected Q2 earnings while also lowering its 2026 net debt forecast. On the downside, Zalando plunged 13% after disappointing results and narrowing its full-year guidance.
