Senate Approves Bill to End Longest U.S. Government Shutdown
The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to fund the government and end the longest shutdown in the nation’s history, according to CNBC. The measure was approved 60–40, backed by nearly all Republicans and several moderate Democrats, and will now move to the House of Representatives for a vote. If passed, the bill will be sent to President Donald Trump, who said earlier Monday that he supports the funding deal negotiated between Republicans and a group of centrist Senate Democrats. House Speaker Mike Johnson said the House is expected to vote on the measure this week but did not specify a date.
