Sensex Extends Losing Streak to Fourth Day

India’s BSE Sensex fell about 0.3% to 77,018 on Wednesday, extending losses to a fourth consecutive session and reaching its lowest level since July 28, as investors remained cautious amid elevated oil prices, rising global bond yields, and persistent foreign outflows. Brent crude hovered around $92 a barrel, raising concerns over India’s import bill and inflation, while higher US Treasury yields continued to pressure emerging-market assets. Foreign investors have sold a record $25 billion of Indian equities this year, despite returning to buying on Tuesday. Among individual stocks, Netweb (-4.5%), Himadri (-5.2%), Cupid (-1.8%), Paras Defence (-1.4%), and L&T Finance (-3.1%) declined. On the upside, RailTel gained 3.3% after securing a 1.67 billion rupees order from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation. Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (1.6%), Chennai Petroleum (3.4%), Milky Mist (10%), and Zaggle (10.4%) posted strong gains.
