Indian GDP Grows More than Expected

The Indian GDP expanded by 7.8% from the previous year in the quarter the June quarter of 2026, growing at an unchanged pace from the earlier period and well ahead of market expectations of 7.8%. The data consolidated India as the fastest-growing G20 country and reflected resilience to a period of economic turbulence, as the war in the Middle East triggered a surge in energy prices, pressured the rupee, and forced the RBI to intervene on markets to stabilize financial assets.
