Sensex at 14-Week High

India’s BSE Sensex rose about 0.7% to 78,661 on Monday, extending gains for a fourth straight session and reaching its highest level since April 21, as lower crude oil prices lifted sentiment in the import-dependent economy. Oil prices fell amid optimism over potential US-Iran diplomatic progress, easing concerns about supply disruptions. Investors now await the RBI’s policy meeting, where the central bank is widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged. Markets will also watch HSBC manufacturing PMI, forecast to ease to 53.9 in July from 54.2 in June, alongside key US economic releases for further direction. Foreign investors have also returned to Indian equities, with improving growth and earnings expectations supporting sentiment as AI-driven trades lose momentum elsewhere in Asia. Among individual stocks, notable movers included Urban Company (13.6%), Aditya (5.1%), Redington (4.7%), and Divi’s Lab (4.2%). On the losing side, ZEE (-10.7%), and Muthoot (-9.7%) declined.
