Dallas Fed Business Activity Rises Most in 11 Months

The general business activity index for the service sector published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas rose to 6.6 in July of 2026 from 2.9 in the previous month, marking the sharpest pace of growth in 11 months. The result was aligned with other similar surveys in the period as exports of energy in the Middle East were momentarily restored, lowering energy prices and operating costs to improve margin prospects in the sector. Revenue growth eased slightly (9.8 vs 9.5 in June), although hours worked rose faster (4.9 vs 3.6). Meanwhile, input prices slowed (33.5 vs 36.5) while selling charges rose sharply (14.2 vs 7.7). Looking ahead, the general business conditions for companies rose to 21 from 17.1.
