Hong Kong Stocks Snap Six-Day Winning Streak

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.5%, or 123 points, to 25,885 on Tuesday, snapping a six consecutive sessions of gains, as investors took profits and sentiment weakened during the session. Initial optimism over Beijing’s latest measures to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as an international financial hub, including expanding yuan-denominated investment products and cross-border market access, faded as selling emerged in heavyweight technology and financial stocks. The benchmark’s decline also reflected lingering caution over China’s economic outlook and corporate earnings, prompting investors to lock in gains after the early rally. Moreover, investors remained cautious ahead of China’s trade figures due later this week. Notable losers included Tencent (-0.7%), Xiaomi (-1.3%), GoFintech Quantum Innovation (-7.7%), Geely Automobile (3.1%), and AIA (-0.5%).
