Indian Stocks Edge Lower

India’s BSE Sensex fell about 0.1% to 76,741 on Tuesday, giving back some of the previous session’s gains after snapping a five-session losing streak. Indian equities were expected to trade in a narrow range as investors awaited the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision and its assessment of the inflationary impact of the Iran conflict on the US economy, a key focus for India’s IT sector, which derives a significant share of its revenue from the US. Among individual stocks, Bharat Electronics and Tata Power were in focus after reporting strong quarterly earnings. Coal India came under pressure after missing earnings estimates due to weaker volumes and higher costs, while InterGlobe Aviation was in focus after appointing Kiran Thadimarri as its new chief financial officer. Among the laggards were Godfrey (-6.3%), CG Power (-5.0%), HFCL (-4.7%), Himadri Specialty (-3.5%), and Bharat Electronics (-3.2%).
