Finland Current Account Swings to Deficit

Finland’s current account recorded a deficit of EUR 562 million in May 2026, shifting from a surplus of EUR 367 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. The goods account surplus narrowed to EUR 328 million from EUR 678 million a year earlier, as exports rose 10% year-on-year to EUR 7. 1billion, while imports climbed 17% to EUR 6.7 billion. Additionally, the shortfall on the services account expanded to EUR 838 million from EUR 186 million, as well as the income redistribution to EUR 206 million from EUR 176 million. On the other hand, the primary income posted a surplus of EUR 154 million, nearly three times wider than EUR 52 million a year ago.
