Danish Retail Sales Hit 3-Month High

Retail sales in Denmark rose 4.8% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a downwardly revised 3.7% increase in the previous month and marking the strongest growth since March. Sales grew at a faster pace for consumer electronics (17.4% vs 5.7% in May), household equipment, furniture, and building materials (11.2% vs 4.9%), clothing, footwear, and jewelry (11.6% vs 8.1%), and pharmaceuticals and personal care products (4.9% vs 3.2%). Moreover, sales declined at a slower pace for liquid fuel filling stations (-17.2% vs -19.1%). On the other hand, growth moderated for supermarkets, department stores, and specialized grocery stores (1.6% vs 3.0%), cultural and leisure products (13.2% vs 17.6%), and second-hand goods (10.9% vs 13.2%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales increased 0.5%, easing from a 1.0% rise in May.
